Silent March Against Stop and Frisk on Flickr. On this Father’s day, more than 298 organizations and citizens (including the NYCLU) took part in the Silent March Against NYPD’s Stop and Frisk Policy. I was there and was amazed by the amount of people who showed up.
It felt great knowing that so many people understood how the NYPD’s practices need to be thoroughly assessed and reformed.  You can tell based on the photographs that I took - this practice has impacted everyone. Some people who I spoke with estimate that the march contained tens of thousands of people, if not hundreds, to represent the more than 600,000 people affected by the practice.
Participants traveled from Harlem, beginning at 110th street on Central Park North to the high 70’s on Fifth Avenue - close to Gracie Mansion. It was interesting seeing the onlookers especially when we walked along the museum mile. Marchers were mostly silent. Some were not aware of the current news surrounding Stop and Frisk’s startling statistics.
I was tweeting and photographing a lot. I think I took around 300 photos? However, I whittled the amount down to 96. There’s more to come. I shot 3 rolls on my 7e. I just need to go and get them developed. Take a look and see more here. Check out NYCLU’s Facebook page for more information and photos.

Aside from doing some freelance design work for ZestNow.com, I decided to dust off my Canon 7e and shoot some film. I take the camera with me as I would with my other digital cameras - looking for that photographic moment. It’s interesting shooting without “chimping” afterwards. As odd as it sounds, shooting film makes me think a lot more about how I am composing a shot. Now I just need to find a better place to develop my rolls. Got any suggestions?

Yesterday evening I hung out with my friend Andrew at the Kate Spade Pop-up Shop. The shop/tour bus was located at the Gansevoort Plaza in the Meat Packing District. The Vivian Girls performed to kickoff Kate Spade’s 2012 Spring Campaign, which is debuting its newest print of the season, Florence Broadurst’s Japanese floral. As you can see, the band was decked out in Kate Spade’s line. I’ve never purchased a Kate Spade product but this makes me want to buy their dresses. Anyways, just before the performance started, my Canon 40d crapped out. The flash wouldn’t fire and the camera would not shoot unless it was on live mode. I had to put my Olympus EP2 to the test. It did a decent job but the quality doesn’t deliver as well as the 40D. At least I got to learn more about its limitations and I am glad that I something on me. Thankfully, my 40D doing fine but it looks like I am going to have to fight with Best Buy on getting it checked out (a whole ‘nother story).
