Joseph and Theresa - Two artists I briefly spoke with as I was on my way to a photo lab. Joseph was standing in the rain barefoot. I regret not getting that part.

Silent March Against Stop and Frisk on Flickr. On this Father’s day, more than 298 organizations and citizens (including the NYCLU) took part in the Silent March Against NYPD’s Stop and Frisk Policy. I was there and was amazed by the amount of people who showed up.
It felt great knowing that so many people understood how the NYPD’s practices need to be thoroughly assessed and reformed.  You can tell based on the photographs that I took - this practice has impacted everyone. Some people who I spoke with estimate that the march contained tens of thousands of people, if not hundreds, to represent the more than 600,000 people affected by the practice.
Participants traveled from Harlem, beginning at 110th street on Central Park North to the high 70’s on Fifth Avenue - close to Gracie Mansion. It was interesting seeing the onlookers especially when we walked along the museum mile. Marchers were mostly silent. Some were not aware of the current news surrounding Stop and Frisk’s startling statistics.
I was tweeting and photographing a lot. I think I took around 300 photos? However, I whittled the amount down to 96. There’s more to come. I shot 3 rolls on my 7e. I just need to go and get them developed. Take a look and see more here. Check out NYCLU’s Facebook page for more information and photos.

Radiant Child by Poster Boy NYC on Flickr.
Via Flickr: R.I.P. Jean-Michel Basquiat The prince would smash his head against the bars hoping that someone would hear the sound and find him. The crown made the most beautiful sound that anyone ever heard. You could hear the ringing for miles. It was so beautiful, that people wanted to grab the air. They never found the prince. He never got out of the room. But the sound he made filled everything up with beauty.

Peelander-Z-5 on Flickr.
Remember this photo? This was shot a little over a year ago in Webster Hall. It was my first time seeing the band Peelander-Z live. They are a fantastic group who really enjoy entertaining their fans. You definitely get that feeling in this photo. Just recently, I entered it into Nikon’s Cool Shot Contest.
If you really like it please vote for it here.
My friend Andrew St. Clair is participating in this contest as well with the rest of the member of the band at last year’s Warped Tour.
Please vote for him here!
Voting is very simple, you just enter a code, so there’s no need to submit your personal info or register on any site.
