Peelander-Z-5 on Flickr.
Remember this photo? This was shot a little over a year ago in Webster Hall. It was my first time seeing the band Peelander-Z live. They are a fantastic group who really enjoy entertaining their fans. You definitely get that feeling in this photo. Just recently, I entered it into Nikon’s Cool Shot Contest.
If you really like it please vote for it here.
My friend Andrew St. Clair is participating in this contest as well with the rest of the member of the band at last year’s Warped Tour.
Please vote for him here!
Voting is very simple, you just enter a code, so there’s no need to submit your personal info or register on any site.

Aside from doing some freelance design work for ZestNow.com, I decided to dust off my Canon 7e and shoot some film. I take the camera with me as I would with my other digital cameras - looking for that photographic moment. It’s interesting shooting without “chimping” afterwards. As odd as it sounds, shooting film makes me think a lot more about how I am composing a shot. Now I just need to find a better place to develop my rolls. Got any suggestions?

UCHC Newspaper Wrap2 on Flickr.
Here’s a test project that I did for the Bronx Free Press/Manhattan Times. It is a four page ad for the non-profit health center, Union Community Health Center (UCHC). The objective of the project was to clearly demonstrate and advertise the amazing work that UCHC has been doing for over 100 years in the Bronx. The project was meant to test my skills with InDesign and to see how I can accurately represent the non-profit’s branding in a newspaper ad.
I think I did a great job. I followed the color scheme of the non-profit’s site, refreshed my knowledge in spanish to work with the type, and seriously used InDesign (I was in the last group of students who were taught Quark at Manahttanville).
One of my biggest challenges was editing and fitting as much of the copy as I could. You have to consider that this is a bilingual newspaper and it is extremely important to be aware that there are two languages involved - Spanish and English.
This was for an interview. They liked it. Though, I am unsure if this will evolve. *crosses fingers* Either way, it’s a keeper for my portfolio.

Yesterday evening I hung out with my friend Andrew at the Kate Spade Pop-up Shop. The shop/tour bus was located at the Gansevoort Plaza in the Meat Packing District. The Vivian Girls performed to kickoff Kate Spade’s 2012 Spring Campaign, which is debuting its newest print of the season, Florence Broadurst’s Japanese floral. As you can see, the band was decked out in Kate Spade’s line. I’ve never purchased a Kate Spade product but this makes me want to buy their dresses. Anyways, just before the performance started, my Canon 40d crapped out. The flash wouldn’t fire and the camera would not shoot unless it was on live mode. I had to put my Olympus EP2 to the test. It did a decent job but the quality doesn’t deliver as well as the 40D. At least I got to learn more about its limitations and I am glad that I something on me. Thankfully, my 40D doing fine but it looks like I am going to have to fight with Best Buy on getting it checked out (a whole ‘nother story). First Snow in 2012 on Flickr.
I thought I made a mistake for not being the first to photograph the newly fallen snow but instead I got some pretty cool shots the day after. A couple of friends and I walked around the Upper West Side yesterday and captured some wintery scenes of the area. I was surprised by the amount of ice present on Central Park’s paths. Luckily, I did not fall.
